Election Results Certified
The results for the Orange County 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election were certified today, June 26. The final official results can be viewed on the County’s Registrar of Voters website at ocvote.gov/results.
Voter turnout in Orange County for this election was 42.4%.
Of the more than 809,000 ballots cast by voters and counted, 86.9% of voters cast a Vote-By-Mail ballot and 13.1% cast an in-person ballot at one of 192 Vote Centers throughout the county.
While one-fifth of Vote Centers were open for 11 days and all Vote Centers for four days, 67.8% of in-person voters waited to cast their ballot on Election Day, June 2.
For those voters who cast a Vote-By-Mail ballot, 61.9% cast their ballot before Election Day and 38.1% returned their ballot on Election Day with only 2.2% of all accepted ballots cast arriving in the mail during the seven days after Election Day.
The percentage of Vote-By-Mail voters who used each available return method was:
- Mail – 40.2%
- Drop Box – 43.2%
- Vote Center – 16.4%
- Other – 0.2%
The votes from 96.6% of all accepted ballots were included in the unofficial election results within seven days of Election Day.
After June 10 only about 10,000 challenged ballots could have still been cured and added to the results. These ballots were challenged because the voter’s signature was missing from the return envelope, the envelope signature didn’t compare to the voter’s signatures in their registration file, or the voter didn’t provide proof of identity when registering.
Only 1,865 cured ballots and Orange County ballots cast in other counties were added to the results over the past 16 days.
Registrar of Voters produces detailed reports and maps focusing on overall results and results by precinct, districts, cities, and more.
These detailed reports can be found by visiting ocvote.gov/detailed-results and ocvote.gov/map-central.

Confirm Your Ballot Was Counted
Registrar of Voters processed all the ballots we received during the 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election. This includes all Vote-By-Mail ballots and provisional ballots.
All ballots are tracked, whether they were Vote-By-Mail ballots returned by mail, at a ballot drop box or at a Vote Center, or cast in person at a Vote Center.
It’s easy to confirm if we received and counted your ballot. Visit ocvote.gov/track to check on your Vote-By-Mail ballot. While there, you can sign up to receive updates regarding the status of your ballot for future elections via text message or email.
You’ll then receive alerts from the Secretary of State when your ballot is mailed for the next election. Plus, alerts will be sent when your ballot is received and counted by the Registrar of Voters.
To check whether a provisional ballot was accepted and counted, visit our website at ocvote.gov/provisional and enter the code on your provisional ballot receipt.

Thank You
The Registrar of Voters team thanks the more than 1,800 people who joined us for this election as extra help employees at our 192 Vote Centers, in the field, and in our office.
We also appreciate the 288 employees from 19 different County agencies who made sure our Ballot Drop Boxes were locked when polls closed.
We also extend our gratitude to our community partners, whose dedication to educating citizens about how to vote and supporting the overall elections process was instrumental to our success.
Finally, we want to recognize all our operational and administrative Registrar of Voters staff, who worked behind the scenes to keep the election running smoothly.
Together, we helped more than 809,000 people in the county successfully exercise their right to vote in an accessible, fair, accurate, secure, and transparent election.
Our election team helped their neighbors vote at our Voter Centers; ensured that all Vote-By-Mail ballots were processed correctly; made certain that all voting equipment was functional, accurate and properly delivered; and manually examined and tallied randomly selected ballots as part of an audit of the results.

Election Accuracy Verified
Before certification, the accuracy of the 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election was verified using several tests and audits.
All ballot scanning and vote tabulation equipment and software was tested after Election Day to ensure the software had not been modified and test ballots were accurately counted. These tests were also conducted before the equipment was used in the election.
More than 11,850 of the 809,000 ballots that were cast in this election were randomly selected to be hand counted as part of two audits – the One Percent Manual Tally Audit and the Risk Limiting Audit. Both audits confirmed that the results of the election were correct.
Details on the audits can be found on our website at ocvote.gov/audit. |
