Candidate Filing Period for the 2022 Statewide General Election begins on Monday, July 18th

Eligible citizens interested in local office can file candidacy documents with the Registrar of Voters or their City Clerk. 

SANTA ANA, CA – July 15, 2022 – Starting on Monday, July 18, 2022, those interested in running for one of about 125 local school and special district offices up for election in the 2022 Statewide General Election can begin the candidate filing process online or at the Registrar of Voters office.

Orange County, CA Elections to Conduct Post Election Audits of California Statewide Direct Primary Election Results

Registrar of Voters will be conducting post-election voting system tests and audits in addition to those required under California law.

SANTA ANA, CA – May 26, 2022 – Starting this Saturday, May 28, Orange County voters will have expanded options for casting a ballot in the June 7 Statewide Direct Primary Election when the Registrar of Voters opens 43 Vote Centers throughout the county.

Extension of Candidate Filing Period for the 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election - UPDATE

When incumbents do not file for re-election, the candidate filing period is extended.

SANTA ANA, CA -  Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00am - The Secretary of State has announced that the nomination period has been extended until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 for the voter-nominated federal and state offices listed below that represent Orange County voters because the eligible incumbents failed to file Nomination Papers by the March 11, 2022 deadline.

SANTA ANA, CA -  Friday, March 11, 2022 at 9:00pm - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 for the nonpartisan offices listed below because the eligible incumbents failed to file Nomination Papers by the March 11, 2022 deadline.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California. 

Orange County, CA Elections to Pilot Additional Ballot Tracking Technology

New technology will allow voters to receive instant ballot status notifications when a ballot is deposited into a drop box

SANTA ANA, CA – February 23, 2022 – The Orange County Registrar of Voters will pilot a new ballot tracking feature that will be available at select ballot drop boxes throughout Orange County beginning with the June 7, 2022 Primary Election.

The Registrar of Voters underwent a rigorous evaluation and audit process to be granted ISO 9001:2015 certification. 

SANTA ANA, CA – February 10, 2022 – Following a year long process, the Orange County Registrar of Voters has been granted ISO 9001:2015 certification, an internationally recognized standard that ensures its services meet the needs of stakeholders through the use of an effective quality management system. 

It is rare for government institutions to receive ISO 9001:2015 certification, which is typically applied in leading private industries.
