Early Voting – Replacement Ballots

Headline image for Early Voting – Replacement Ballots

Voters have 19 days to cast their ballot in the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

If you have already voted and want to check the status of your ballot, please visit ocvote.gov/track. You will be asked to confirm your identity before you can track your ballot.

Need a Replacement Ballot?

If your Vote-By-Mail ballot is damaged or you made an error marking it and haven't cast it yet, you can still get a replacement ballot mailed to you by requesting one online at ocvote.gov/replacement.

The deadline to have a replacement Vote-By-Mail ballot mailed to you is May 26. You will be asked to confirm your identity before you can apply for a replacement ballot online.

If you require a replacement ballot after this date, you can obtain one in-person at any of our 191 Vote Centers in the county or by visiting the Registrar of Voters at 1300 S. Grand Ave., Building C, Santa Ana, CA 92705. To find the Vote Center closest to you, visit ocvote.gov/votecenter.

Remember: You can only vote one ballot. Attempting to vote more than once is a crime punishable by up to three years in State prison. California Elections Code section 18560.

Keeping Ballots Secure
Keeping Ballots Secure

When voted ballots are collected from our 128 Ballot Drop Boxes, Registrar of Voters (ROV) uses teams of two staff members to transport the ballots and record chain of custody at each step in the process.

The two-person collection teams are issued a new randomized route each day. ROV communicates with them by cell phone and 800 MHz radio. We also track their GPS location throughout the day.

When they arrive at an assigned Ballot Drop Box or drop off location on their route, the team must take and submit several photos using their cell phone, showing that:

  • all of the ballots have been removed from the drop box
  • the fire suppression device is intact
  • the door to the drop box is locked and sealed
  • they have the key to the drop box when they return to their vehicle

Only once their photos have been reviewed does the ROV give the teams permission to proceed to the next stop on their route. During the 2024 Presidential General Election, the ballot collection teams submitted nearly 13,500 photos.

The team also records the number on the security seal that they use to secure the closure of the ballot bag. That seal number is confirmed at the ROV before the ballot bag is opened and the ballots are removed for processing.

ROV Earns Two Awards at the 2026 CAPIO Annual Conference

Registrar of Voters (ROV) earned two awards at the 2026 California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) Annual Conference.

ROV received a 2026 EPIC Award — CAPIO’s highest honor for excellence in public agency communications — for the “Three Scans, One Truth” crisis communications, along with a 2026 Award of Distinction for the “Trust Through Transparency” campaign.

Presented annually by CAPIO, the EPIC Awards recognize outstanding public agency communications programs that demonstrate creativity, effectiveness and lasting community impact. Winning entries are evaluated by experienced communications professionals using merit-based scoring criteria focused on quality and achievement.

Both campaigns were created with one goal in mind: helping Orange County voters better understand the election process while strengthening public trust through clear, transparent and accessible information.

The recognition reflects the dedication of the entire ROV team and the office’s ongoing commitment to serving voters with accuracy, transparency and integrity.

ROV Earns Honorable Mention in 2025 EAC Clearinghouse Awards

Registrar of Voters (ROV) received honorable mention recognition in the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC)'s 2025 Clearinghouse Awards — known as the "Clearies" — which honor election offices nationwide for excellence and innovation in the field.

They’re the elections administration equivalent of the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys.

The recognition highlights ROV's "Building Trust Through Transparency" communications initiative that reached voters through multilingual outreach, social media, short-form videos, consistent media engagement, behind-the-scenes facility tours, community presentations and partnerships with trusted community messengers. Together, these efforts delivered clear, accurate information about how elections are conducted — improving public awareness, supporting accurate reporting and reinforcing trust in the democratic process.
