Notice of Election

Notice is hereby given that a Special Election will be held on March 9, 2021 within the Second Supervisorial District of the Orange County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacancy in the office of Second District Supervisor from said district arising from the resignation of office by Michelle Steel. 

Nomination papers may be obtained at the office of the Registrar of Voters beginning January 5, 2021, and the deadline for filing nomination papers in that office is no later than January 25, 2021, 5:00 p.m. To qualify for the office of Second District Supervisor, the candidate must be a registered voter in the district which he/she seeks to represent for at least 30 days immediately preceding the deadline for filing nomination documents for the office.

Notice is further given that starting Saturday, February 27, 2021, select Vote Centers will be open 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Starting Saturday, March 6, 2021, all Vote Centers will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. On Election Day, 
March 9, 2021, all Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All ballots cast in said election will be counted centrally at the Registrar of Voters’ office, 1300-C South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana.

Notice is further given that vote-by-mail ballot processing will begin on 
February 8, 2021, and will continue Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. until the election is certified on or about April 8, 2021.  The vote-by-mail ballot process is open to the public at 1300-C South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana.

Notice is further given that the Orange County Registrar of Voters will conduct a risk-limiting audit and/or a manual tally of specific precincts, and will begin on 
March 10, 2021, at the Orange County Registrar of Voters’ office, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana.
