Registrar of Voters staff excels day after threat to their safety.
SANTA ANA , CA – November 9, 2024 – Undeterred by a false bomb threat the evening before, the Orange County Registrar of Voters team continued to process vote-by-mail and provisional ballots today.
Fewer employees called out sick Saturday than a typical Saturday. And, one employee who wasn’t scheduled to work came in to help.
“Everyday I am amazed by this team," said Bob Page, Registrar of Voters. “Their commitment to each other, to the integrity of our election, and to ensuring every voter’s ballot is processed is unrivaled.”
“I also want to thank the Orange County Sheriff's Department, who continue to keep our staff and the public observers safe, and the Disaster Response Team from the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Behavioral Health Services, who provided crisis counseling to staff.”
In addition to keeping the County campus at 1300 S. Grand Ave. secure, a Sheriff’s bomb detection dog team periodically searched the campus and Registrar of Voters building today.
Law enforcement informed the Registrar of Voters that the FBI is investigating the bomb threat that was received by Orange County and additional counties in the state and country.
Today, the Registrar of Voters added 64,183 ballots to the count.
Since Election Night, 205,077 ballots have been added. The Registrar of Voters estimates it has about 212,000 ballots left to process, which includes about 900 eligible ballots received today from the U.S. Postal Service.
