Senator Blakespear Joins Representatives from Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department and Registrar of Voters Bob Page to Discuss Safe, Transparent Ballot Processing and Election Results

TIME:              10:30 a.m. – Guided Media Tour Begins (approximately 45 minutes)

11:15 a.m. – Chair of the State Senate Committee on Elections and Constitutional Amendments Senator Catherine Blakespear, Chief Assistant District Attorney Keith Bogardus, Assistant Sheriff John McCulloch, and Orange County Registrar of Voters Bob Page to provide brief remarks to media.

LOCATION:   1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, CA 92705

Media check-in table will be set up outside of the main entrance doors. Media can begin checking in at 10 a.m. Please allow sufficient time to go through security.

WHAT:           With continued strong interest from voters on election security and integrity, the Orange County Registrar of Voters welcomes media for an onsite tour that shows how voted ballots are processed securely from the moment they are cast until the election results are certified.

Joining Registrar Bob Page will be Chair of the Senate Committee on Elections and Constitutional Amendments Senator Blakespear; Chief Assistant District Attorney Keith Bogardus, whose office oversees the County's investigation and prosecution of election fraud; and Assistant Sheriff John McCulloch, whose office protects vital election processes.

Media will receive a guided tour by the Registrar of Voters with stops at stations that highlight the following functions:

  • Vote Center operations
  • Ballot drop box collections
  • Ballot receiving
  • Ballot sorting and extraction
  • Ballot signature comparison
  • Ballot duplication
  • Scanning of ballots
  • Ballot tabulation and tally room

                        There will be an opportunity for TV media to conduct a stand-up interview with the Registrar of Voters, State Senator, Chief Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Sheriff at the conclusion of the guided tour.
