Vote Center and Ballot Drop Box Accessibility

Every effort has been made to ensure all Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes meet accessibility standards. Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes that do not meet these requirements are noted on our website and in the Voter Information Guide. Drive-thru only Ballot Drop Boxes have posted signage with the address of the closest accessible ballot drop box location. Assistance at Vote Centers

Below are services available at Vote Centers during the voting period:

  • Accessible ballot marking devices
  • American Sign Language interpreter via video conferencing
  • Curbside voting with a paper ballot
  • Magna Viewers
  • Signature Guides
  • Assistance from trained Vote Center staff
  • Voters may bring up to two individuals of their choosing to assist in casting their ballot
     

Ballot Marking Devices

All Orange County Vote Centers have a minimum of three accessible ballot marking devices.

With a ballot marking device, a voter can mark their ballot using the touch screen display, audio-tactile device, or their own assistive technology. Voters can also change the display settings such as text size and contrast. The ballot marking device provides voters a private and independent voting experience.
 

Remote Accessible Vote-by-Mail (RAVBM)

The Remote Accessible Vote-by-Mail ballot provides all voters the option to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot to be delivered electronically. The electronic ballot can be downloaded to the voter’s computer and then printed. Voters can mail-in their RAVBM, drop-off at a ballot drop box, or deliver to a Vote Center.   • Request a Vote-by-Mail ballot in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, or a translated reference ballot in Farsi (Persian), Gujarati, Hindi, Japanese, Tagalog no later than seven days before Election Day
  • Request the Voter Information Guide in large print
  • Voters who need a representative to pick up a Vote-By-Mail ballot must complete and return the Application to Provide Vote-By-Mail Ballot to Representative Form.
    • The Representative's Statement needs to be signed in the presence of the Registrar of Voters staff.
    • This application must be provided in person to the county elections office by the voter's representative.
