$0.71 Required for Vote-by-Mail Ballot Returns

Ballots in Orange County weigh more than 1-ounce due to the number of contests and candidates.

SANTA ANA, CA – The Registrar of Voters would like to remind vote-by-mail voters to apply the proper postage to their vote-by-mail ballots prior to mailing them.

Vote-by-mail ballots require $0.71 in return postage (A single First Class stamp, $0.50 plus an additional $0.21). Ballots throughout California are lengthy due to the number of candidates and measures on the ballot. First Class Mail Letters (1 oz.) rates increased from $0.49 to $0.50 when purchased at the Post Office in January 2018. Each additional ounce costs $0.21. Full details can be found in the instructions included with every ballot.

Voters with questions on the mailing procedure for ballots can contact the Registrar of Voters' office at 714-567-7600 or chat online at ocvote.gov/about.
