Extension of Candidate Filing Period for the 2022 Statewide Direct Primary Election

When incumbents do not file for re-election, the candidate filing period is extended.

SANTA ANA, CA -  Friday, March 11, 2022 at 9:00pm - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 for the nonpartisan offices listed below because the eligible incumbents failed to file Nomination Papers by the March 11, 2022 deadline.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California.

Business hours are: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At the time this press release was issued, the California Secretary of State had not announced which voter-nominated offices would have extended candidate filing periods. Once the Registrar of Voters receives that notification about impacted federal and state offices, the Registrar of Voters will share that information on our website ocvote.gov
