Public Notice Brea Olinda Unified School District, Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 5 Election Recount

SANTA ANA, CA – November 30, 2020 – Pursuant to California Elections Code section 15628 the Orange County Registrar of Voters will be conducting a recount of the ballots cast in the Brea Olinda Unified School District, Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 5 Election at the request of candidate Gail Lyons.

The election was conducted on November 3, 2020. The recount process will begin at the Registrar of Voters' office, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 beginning at 10 a.m.

The Brea Olinda Unified School District, Governing Board Member, Trustee Area 5 Election recount is being conducted pursuant to California Elections Code section 15629 and 15630, which requires that the recount process be conducted publicly.

Despite the requirements for a public process, several conditions for observation will be in place that are in line with state and local health orders and guidance. All observers attending the recount will be required to wear face coverings as mandated by the California Department of Public Health and the OC Health Care Agency. As noted in the orders, face coverings are not a replacement for prevention measures like social distancing and frequent hand washing.

In addition, due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, access to the recount location will be limited to official representatives of the interested parties (and may be restricted further based on space limitations) pursuant to the California Code of Regulations, Title 2, Division 7, Chapter 8, Article 1, sections 20816 (a) and 20816 (b).

The recount process will be broadcast online for interested members of the public not in attendance. Additional details on the recount status and updated COVID-19 restrictions will be located on our website at ocvote.com/recount.
